5-Day Tanzania Luxury Safari

Your 5-day luxury safari adventure begins as you leave Arusha, the safari capital of Northern Tanzania. After a scenic drive along the Arusha–Dodoma highway, you’ll pass through the stunning Maasai Steppe, with its open landscapes and vibrant Maasai villages. If you’d like, there’s an opportunity for a quick stop at a local supermarket to pick up any last-minute personal items.

In about two hours, you’ll arrive at Tarangire National Park, a gem known for its vast herds of elephants, towering baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Once at the park gate, your driver will handle the entrance paperwork while you take in the sights around you.

The day’s adventure begins with your first game drive in this iconic park. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, lions, giraffes, and even the rare oryx or long-necked gerenuk. Midway through your day, you’ll stop at a designated picnic site to enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by the untamed beauty of the African bush.

As the afternoon unfolds, you’ll continue exploring Tarangire’s wildlife-rich terrain until sunset, when you’ll head to Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands where you will check in at your luxurious accommodation for the night.

After a hearty breakfast at your lodge, your day begins with an early departure from Tarangire National Park, (or Karatu if staying in the Ngorongoro Highlands)  heading ot on an incredible drive that showcases the beauty of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes. Your route takes you across the vast floor of the Great Rift Valley, up the towering escarpment, and through the picturesque Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey is nothing short of spectacular, with breathtaking vistas and stunning scenery at every turn—perfect for photos and unforgettable memories.

Around midday, you’ll arrive at Naabi Hill Gate, the main entrance to Serengeti National Park. While your guide takes care of registration and paperwork, you can stretch your legs, soak in the panoramic views, and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Once inside the Serengeti National Park, your adventure continues with an afternoon game drive. As you traverse the park’s iconic endless plains, you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, from prides of lions lounging under acacia trees to graceful antelopes and, if lucky, a glimpse of the elusive leopard.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the luxurious Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, where you can unwind by the campfire under the starlit African sky, savor a gourmet dinner, and drift off to a peaceful sleep, serenaded by the soothing sounds of nature.

Start your day early with an optional sunrise game drive, the perfect opportunity to spot elusive nocturnal animals as they retreat to their hideouts, as well as early risers among the park’s diurnal wildlife. This is also a magical time to observe animals up close, as many gather near the roadsides to avoid the morning dew.

After your morning adventure, return to your camp for a delicious breakfast before setting out for a full day of game drives across the breathtaking Serengeti National Park. The name Serengeti originates from the Maasai word Siringit, meaning “endless plains,” and the park lives up to its name with vast stretches of African savannah teeming with wildlife.

As you explore, expect to encounter a wide variety of animals, from elephants and majestic lions to agile cheetahs and the elusive leopards. Of course, the Serengeti’s iconic wildebeests are a highlight, but you’ll also spot zebras, elands, and a colorful array of resident and migratory birds. Every turn on this thrilling game drive offers new surprises and unforgettable moments.

After a leisurely breakfast at your camp or lodge, check out and set off for one final game drive in the iconic Serengeti. Your guide will take you to the Seronera River Valley, an area renowned for its diverse wildlife and abundant birdlife. Depending on the conditions and wildlife activity, your guide may also take you to other prime spots across the Serengeti, ensuring a varied and rewarding experience.

Your safari guide will stay in constant communication with fellow guides through VHF radios, which allows for a dynamic, real-time approach to finding the best areas to explore. This means you can rest assured that your game drive will take you to the most active and exciting spots of the day.

After your last exhilarating game drive, you’ll drive back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll check in at the luxurious Oldeani Mountain Lodge for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a gourmet dinner and unwind in the elegant surroundings, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.

After a delightful breakfast at your lodge, you’ll head down to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for an exciting game drive. To make the most of your time and enhance your chances of spotting rare wildlife like the Black Rhinos, it’s best to start early—either right after breakfast or with a packed breakfast so you can get to the Crater floor as soon as possible. The Crater, with its stunning 600 to 650 meter high walls, is a natural wonder that offers some of the best wildlife sightings in the world.

As you descend into the Crater, you’ll enter what feels like a natural wildlife sanctuary, where animals roam freely in one of the most unique ecosystems on earth. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including herds of elephants, prides of lions, elusive leopards, and a wealth of bird species. The Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—are all frequently spotted here, often in one day. With its lush grasslands, acacia forests, and soda lakes, the Crater offers a diverse landscape that supports a wide array of animals.

The Black Rhinos are especially a highlight of the Crater, as this area is one of the few places where you can still catch a glimpse of this critically endangered species. In addition to the rhinos, you can also see large herds of wildebeest and zebras, as well as the powerful buffalo and majestic lions. The Crater’s hippopotamus pools are another area of interest, where you can enjoy lunch while watching these fascinating creatures interact.

After spending a rewarding morning exploring the Crater floor, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo poolside, offering a relaxed spot to reflect on the day’s wildlife encounters. Afterward, you’ll drive up the Crater rim and leave the conservation area behind, heading back to Arusha in the late afternoon.

This will mark the end of your unforgettable luxury safari through some of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife regions.
